When temporary rivers go temporary

Our sampling last Thursday showed an interesting new feature of the rivers of the Paderborn Plateau. The sites of the Sauer and most of the sites of the Talgosse were completely dry. What does this effect have on the diatoms living in usually only spatially drying rivers? The first finding is an increase in diatom death and reduced photosynthetic activity.
